Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

"These kinds of products being sold, typically online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their security.

"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
